incoming mattress! i forgot to blog about my short "gurung guni" stint. it was a truly comical affair. think it was two weeks ago? after a movie which was followed by a little shopping(just a little), wanzi and i headed back to her house for dinner. upon reaching her block, i saw this old lady coming out from the lift. and she had with her a trolley of newspapers and a huge mattress. so i went to help her take out everything and try to stop the lift door from closing as well. once everything was out, she thanked us and asked us to help her carry it to her home. she kept saying that her house was just there( she kept pointing to the right). obviously we said sure. so wanzi and i carried the mattress and followed the ah ma. we stopped ever so often to wait for the ah ma to pick up some stray pieces of paper on the floor. wanzi eventually decided to rest and she started to place the mattress on the ground. this was met by a violent objection from the old lady. She told wanzi not to be lazy and carry it off the ground or else it would get dirty. i bet you are raising your eyebrow just about now haha. and so we never let the mattress down. we walked a total of about 20 blocks or so? all the while, no one ever came to offer us help. they just kept looking at us thinking we were mad or something. i couldn't stop laughing when we were trying to cross the road while clinging to the mattress. i remembered telling wanzi that at least if a car hit us, the mattress would absorb some of the impact and the car might bounce away or something haha. along the way, the old lady told us to buy 4D. she kept muttering some number for us to buy and that we should treat her if we really win. in the end, she brought us to this old van that was really dirty. she nodded for us to throw the mattress in. i was thinking, the ground is way cleaner than the interior of the van. oh well i wonder what the old lady would have done if she didn't meet us. |
