old friends rock i just read yanru's blog and i got such a shock. is it the season for primary school friends to get back in touch with one other? haha i got a call from kian meng just yesterday. he called me from camp and told me that another old friend of ours wanted to catch up with me(but let's not go there because the situation is just too weird really). we gossiped about old friends and complained about how we never had any class outings. honestly, it felt really good to be able to talk to him again. i still can't believe that we keep talking about meeting up, but over the years we just couldn't find the time. i think we are just too lazy. i mean he lives only 5 minutes (or less if you run) away! after i hung up with him( cause his free time was over ), i sat there smiling, because it's always nice to hear from an old friend, especially when you least expect it. and so i decided to spread this joy by calling one of my oldest friend ever(old not in terms of their age but the span of our friendship!). yes that's you liwen haha:) i think i talked to her for ages, and towards the end of our conversation we talked about having a 6I class gathering. and she asked me a really good question, " who would you want to meet the most? " that question got me stumped. i guess i would want to meet every single one of my crushes in the past! hahaha it's quite hard for me to choose just one cause i had so many! and no i am not going to name them. it's not like i am still interested in them or anything. i would just like to see how they turned out you know;) i can't really describe how i feel after all this walking down memory lane talks. it's like i am contented and relieved that it's over. but at the same time, i secretly harbour a wish that things could have just stayed that way. you know when we were childish, when the only things that matter were what you wanted to buy from the bookshop during recess time, playing hopscotch or five stones or the blind mice and finishing all your homework BEFORE dinnertime. which brings me to another thing! i was chatting online with wanzi yesterday(gosh i seem to be doing everything but studying ay?) and we were talking about acting cute or something. she was talking about how she can act cute even when there's nobody around. how does she do that you ask? well you know like jumping on beds? she does that quite often when she's alone. then after that she would be thinking why she act cute but she came to a conclusion that she's not acting, she IS cute. and that's not all. she loves to smile at the herself in the mirror(which i think i am guilty of as well, don't laugh. i am sure you do that as well! this is one of those things no one admit but they do it anyway)i think that actually she's not acting. instead, she's actually being herself. acting only occurs when we are in the presence of others. this is because we have some innate need to give people a good impression of us, or rather we try our very best to not let the other person think we are some walking mental case, so we keep our true self hidden. that true inner self only comes out when we are alone or when we are with close friends that we are comfortable with. and that is only because we know that no matter what stupid things we do, they would still be our friends. in fact they embrace us for all the nonsense that we throw at them. so i say, surround yourself with the best friends you could get comfortable with, because that's when you can be the inner kid you always are! since i have the most awesome friends i could ever ask for, i am always childish (if you frown at this and disagree then obviously you are not close enough to me to know my true inner self so try harder haha) and for that, i am thankful:) |
